Calling Fear Forward.
and so she stood in front of her fear,
calling out it’s name,
begging it to come closer,
into the light.
so she could see it’s true face.
and as fear stepped forward,
it’s shadow grew shorter and smaller.
and she realized that fear
was tiny in fact.
that it had been hiding in darkness,
portraying itself as large
so that it could hide away from true power,
from vulnerability and trust.
in the darkness it was safe,
not subject to inner light and truth.
fear liked to control,
to tell her that it wouldn’t happen
or that she couldn’t possibly do that.
fear wanted her to play small,
so that it could stay large.
but as fear revealed it’s true size
she realized that bringing it forward,
acknowledging its presence
had given her the power to call upon her courage.
to stand taller,
to take up more space,
to believe in herself.
for she now knew,
that fear is never as large as it pretends to be.
and that inside herself there resided a place
where the power of love was greater than the power of fear.
and from that place she now moved -
towards decisions, situations, and people
that filled her with more love,
more light,
more power to banish away the darkness
that fear calls home.
